Mennonites are distincly different from the locals, but there seems to be no friction at all. Also, a number of the them are now moderates, own agricultural equipment and are quite wealthy and comfortable in the high tech world. According to one I chatted with, a young moderate, drinking was ok, but not getting drunk. |

The others, the majority of them, are strict in their adherence to the rules of their belief system, They are fiercely pacifist and shun almost all technology. They are of German/Dutch origin and moved into Belize, then part of British Honduras, in masse, from Mexico, in the late 1950s |
